Being a photographer is not just being an expert at understanding the equipment but also
understanding the subject – the person you are taking the photo of – and that is why the quote
above is so important to me, because it describes exactly how I feel when I take photos of
people.
It is not just another photo, it is an experience; it is an exciting feeling when you finally get
those photos. You will feel as if you are on top of the world, because taking a photo is not
just another ‘job’ for me, it is my passion, it is my obsession, and it is my creation!
I have been taking photos in all manners and genres for over 34 years, and I have even
attained my FIAP – which is a fellowship of the international Photographic Association
FIAP. I am a member of a photo club, I am an international photographic judge, and I belong
to the requisite photographic body, the PSSA. So my ‘formal’ background has now been
introduced, just in case!
